Wisdom Passed On is a free library of quotes, stories, and history, along with a wallpaper-creation tool. Browsing the library, reading stories, and using the core wallpaper generator are free for everyone, with no account required.
An account is created automatically the first time you give (see "Donations" below) or sign up directly. You're responsible for keeping your login details secure, and for anything that happens under your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, contact us right away.
Giving to Wisdom Passed On is voluntary support, not a purchase of goods or a subscription. The minimum gift is $1. In return, your account is marked as a supporter, which removes the site's watermark and unlocks a few extra creative features on the wallpaper tool — permanently, tied to your account rather than a device.
Donations are processed by trusted third-party payment providers; we never see or store your full card details. Donations are non-refundable except where required by law, though if something went wrong with your payment, we'll always hear you out — reach out and we'll do right by you.
Quotes on this site come from historical, public-domain sources, or are quoted briefly under fair use for educational and inspirational commentary. We label every quote's verification status (verified, attributed, disputed, or misattributed) as honestly as we can — see our Fair Use & Attribution page for the full explanation. We do our best to be accurate, but with a library this size spanning centuries of recorded and oral history, we can't guarantee every attribution is perfect. If you spot an error, please tell us.
Wallpapers you generate — with our quotes or your own words — are yours to use personally: as a lock screen, a desktop background, printed for yourself, shared with a friend. If you upload your own photo as a background, you confirm it's yours to use or that you otherwise have the right to use it.
The site, its content, and its tools are provided "as is." We work hard to keep everything accurate and running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted.
We may update these terms as the site grows. We'll update the date above when we do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
