Wisdom Passed On is a library of quotes, stories and ideas from people who lived, thought and wrote before us. Philosophers, poets, leaders, scientists, ordinary people who said one thing well. We collect their words, check where they came from, and put them where you can find them on the day you need them.
Most quote sites repeat the same lines, often wrongly credited. A sentence gets attached to a famous name, copied a million times, and nobody checks. We think the people behind these words deserve better, and so do you. If a line is worth passing on, it is worth getting right.
Every quote carries an honest label: verified, attributed, disputed or misattributed. Most of the library is in the public domain. For more recent voices we quote a single short line for commentary, and those lines are never turned into products. The full rules are on our Fair Use & Attribution page.
Know a quote that belongs here? Spotted a line credited to the wrong person? Have a story worth telling? Send it our way. Every suggestion is read, and corrections are made promptly.
Wisdom Passed On is built to stay useful and honest. If it has helped you, you can give to keep the library growing, or simply share a quote with someone who needs it today.
